ANOTHER WAVE OF ARREST
OF KURDISH ACTIVISTS
During the last month a considerable number of Kurdish activists,
throughout Iranian Kurdistan, have been arrested by the military and
security forces for their political and freedom activities.
The
families of some of those imprisoned since 5th April 2005
have not been able to establish whereabouts and fate of their loved
ones. These include Xian Kamkar, Verya Karimi, Hiva Nori, Vaten Ebadi,
Khlid Rasoli and Kave Anvari all from the Town of Notsha
Other detainees, for example those arrested in Mahabed, have been
punished by long and harsh sentences in prisons away from their towns
and families. These include Reza Amini, sentenced to 20 years in
Tabriz Jail
Halmet Hasan Azadpur sentenced to 15 years in Orumea Jail.
Khaleq Mohamedzadeh sentenced to10 years in Maraga Jail.
These detainees, in the last few days, have started a hunger strike in
protest to their harsh sentences and demand a retrial.
Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran Strongly condemns these waves of
arrests of Kurds in Iran. Our request from the international
community, human right organisations and all the freedom loving people
of the world is to demand from the Iranian regime to explain the fate
of the six detainees and to reconsider the harsh sentences on the
other four mentioned above. International community must not allow
the Iranian regime to stifle the demand for democracy and freedom in
Iranian Kurdistan by brutality and repression.
With look forward for all possible humanitarian assistance.
