The Islamic
Republic of Iran’s Presidential Elections
June 27, 2005
Following much
speculations and anticipation regarding the so-called ninth
presidential elections in Iran, It was announced in the early Saturday
morning of June 25th, 2005 that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the
Mayor of Tehran with 17 million votes has defeated his only rival
Hashemi Rafsanjani in the run-off , and found his way to the
presidential palace. Ahmadinejad was trailing at the bottom of many
polls conducted. In the first round, he earned 5 million votes, and in
the run-off, apparently his share of votes was more than tripled to 17
million.
By means of
colossal and illegal expenses, the intrusion of the Supreme Leader’s
son and other influential state organs, the militias, the security
forces, revolutionary guards and etc… that according to the regime’s
constitution have no meddling rights in the electoral process, phony
figures and other schemes where the regime posses quite a lot of
expertise in, a candidate emerged from the elections that is one of
the most extremist element of the hardliners camp. According to ILNA
news agency, he had stated that “we have a mission to expand the
Islamic Republic globally.”
Such a person
intertwined in the office of Supreme Leadership, aside from being not
elected in an ordinary election, he has been directly involved in the
murder of Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, then the Secretary-general of
Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan(PDKI), and Abdullah Ghaderi-azar
then a member of PDKI Central Committee. This carnage was carried out
in Vienna, Austrian Capital in 1989 by the terrorist agents of the
Islamic Republic of Iran in a meeting that was apparently set up, with
the Iranian authorities’ request, to negotiate the national demands of
Kurds in Iranian Kurdistan.
According to
sources, for the execution of such a terrorist act two groups were
prepared: Ahmadinejad, aside from being responsible for the
coordination between the assassins group and the so-called
negotiators, he was a member of the second terror team, and he was
also in charge of arm supply required for the groups. It should be
noted that his involvement in this terrorist operation is not his only
act of killing and terror, rather, he has been suspected of other
killings especially when he was in charge of the special revolutionary
guards in the western part of the country.
Such a
terrorist figure and killer can not represent the people of Iran as a
president; rather he must be tried in a just and an impartial
tribunal. Therefore, we consider establishing or continuing
international relations via such a known assassin to be in contrary to
all the international norms, to promote terrorism and inflict further
injustice on the people of Iran.
